How it started

Why we created Tough Comfort

Tough Comfort began with the two of us—a husband and wife bringing together more than two decades in the trades and more than two decades in cosmetology, hair restoration, and hair and scalp care. We saw hair care from different perspectives, but shared the same frustration with the products we used at home.

Long days on the job meant sweat, dirt, weather, and constant wear. Yet even the high-end shampoos and conditioners we tried would eventually leave our hair feeling dry, irritated, stripped out, or weighed down. At one point, we found ourselves relying on medicated shampoos just to deal with the irritation. We knew there had to be a better way.

That shared frustration brought our experience together. We combined an understanding of demanding days in the trades with professional knowledge of hair and scalp care to create something we felt was missing from our own routine: a shampoo and conditioner that cleaned well and left hair feeling soft and manageable.

We spent over a year and a half developing Tough Comfort Daily Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner, testing and refining every detail to create formulas we felt good about using ourselves and on our family.
